Song of the Week - Highs 2 Lows (feat. Cise Starr) by Nujabes

I genuinely used to listen to this song almost everyday while in art class. This song has many great bars that really make you visualize what Cise is saying. I truly believe that Cise Starr receives too little recognition for his flow and lyrics. Nujabes also has an amazing beat, which enhances the song's feeling with it being melodic while still being kinda abnormal.

Song of the Week - Eye Know by De La Soul

De La Soul has always been very interesting to me because I feel like, even now, there is nothing out there quite like what they were doing. Their music demonstrates a complete understanding of what makes a song fun to listen to, and it all has an infectious energy so that you just can't help but vibe to the beat.

Sorry this one is so late, I've been kind of busy ever since the new year!

RIP Plug Two.

Here in EST, it has officially ticked over to 2025!

I'm quite happy with the progress I've made in my artistic ability and creativity in general, but there is still a long way to go. Eventually, I want to be confident that I have inspired others to create just as many others have done for me, whether that be through my games, art, or any other endeavors I've undertaken.

Hope everyone has a great year!

Song of the Week - Luv(sic) by Nujabes

There's not much to be said about this song and Nujabes in general that hasn't been said before. The song has a masterful use of samples, an impeccable vibe, and an amazing underlying beat. Shing02 also absolutely kills the vocals on this track. This song is actually the first of a series, which includes many other great songs; I'd recommend you check them out as well.

Merry Christmas everyone!

This has been a great year for me personally and artistically and I hope that trend continues onto next year as well.

Song of the Week - Next Levels By King Geedorah

This song is easily one of my favorites, its so easy to come back to over and over and just vibe. Lil' Sci, 4 Winds, and Stahhr have a really pleasant and smooth lyrical flow which meshes extremely well with the relaxed beat, combined with the impressive lyrical content, it makes for an amazing listening experience. Also oopsies forgot to post on sunday, again...

Song of the Week - 93 'Til Infinity By Souls of Mischief

Oops, I forgot to post this one on Sunday. This song shaped my music tastes and introduced me to Souls of Mischief, Hieroglyphics, and all of Native Tongues, so it holds a special place in my heart. It also just embodies a very certain vibe, like hanging out with your friends on a summer day. The music video for this song is also great.

Song of the Week - Doomsday By MF DOOM

This song is easily one of the best opening tracks to an album, in my opinion. It's more traditional than my previous picks, but I can't stop coming back to this song. The relaxed, smooth instrumental mixed with DOOM's rhyming skills is simply a match made in heaven. Every line has something to deconstruct, and I love how the whole song communicates one thing: DOOM is taking over the rap game, and I'd say he did. If you hadn't heard of DOOM before this, please, do yourself a favor and listen to his discography.

Song of the Week - Thieves In the Night By Black Star

This is probably my favorite song. The flow of the lyrics and the actual instruments, combined with the lyrical content of the song, are simply unmatched. Mos Def and Talib Kweli essentially proved with this song and the album that Hip-Hop has the power to be thoughtful, empowering, and introspective because, at the time, a lot of popular songs were violent or hedonistic (which I also like!).

Also I know I posted this one late, I forgor.

Song of the Week - Vision Eyes (feat. Golden Boy) By Uyama Hiroto

Another chilled-out jazzy hip hop song. Guess it could be classified as "jazz hop" or "nu jazz" or something similar.

This song, once again, is in the same vein as other artists' works like Nujabes, Kenichiro Nishihara, and many artists under Hydeout Productions.

I actually got the album this song is from, A Son of the Sun, for free by accident. I ordered a copy of Hydeout's 2nd Collection, and the seller accidentally sent me A Son of The Sun instead.

They apologized, sent me the actual album, and let me keep this one. That's how I first listened to this song.
