Song of the Week - Thieves In the Night By Black Star

This is probably my favorite song. The flow of the lyrics and the actual instruments, combined with the lyrical content of the song, are simply unmatched. Mos Def and Talib Kweli essentially proved with this song and the album that Hip-Hop has the power to be thoughtful, empowering, and introspective because, at the time, a lot of popular songs were violent or hedonistic (which I also like!).

Also I know I posted this one late, I forgor.

Song of the Week - Vision Eyes (feat. Golden Boy) By Uyama Hiroto

Another chilled-out jazzy hip hop song. Guess it could be classified as "jazz hop" or "nu jazz" or something similar.

This song, once again, is in the same vein as other artists' works like Nujabes, Kenichiro Nishihara, and many artists under Hydeout Productions.

I actually got the album this song is from, A Son of the Sun, for free by accident. I ordered a copy of Hydeout's 2nd Collection, and the seller accidentally sent me A Son of The Sun instead.

They apologized, sent me the actual album, and let me keep this one. That's how I first listened to this song.

Song of the Week - In All the Wrong Places by Kero One

Again, this song has a nice jazzy beat with a great lyrical flow over the top.

I picked this song, not only because it's a bop, but also because I thought it could use more attention. Kero One, in general, doesn't get enough recognition, so even if only one person listens and ends up liking it, that's good to me.

I actually liked the song so much that I got a CD copy of the album this song is from! If you want more, another song from this album that I enjoy is Keep It Alive!

Song of the Week - Satisfied? by J-Live

Despite being made over 20 years ago, this song is still very relevant and especially due to recent events.

It's also just a great song with impressive lyrical skill and a poignant message. J-Live also has many other great songs as well so if you're a fan of older rap with great lyrical content check out his other music and especially his album, The Best Part.

I've been listening to a lot more music recently so I thought I'd share some music I like each week!

Expect a lot of it to be rap/hip-hop/jazz adjacent because those are my favorite genres.

Song of the Week - believe by Kenichiro Nishihara ft. Cise Starr

This song has gotten a lot of listens recently from me whenever I'm drawing. It just a really good chill song that sets a good vibe.

Sometimes I look back at the first drawings I posted here and get tempted to delete them.

But I always end up keeping them, I think it serves as a good reminder for how much I've improved.

I didn't even realize it but my Pico day artwork got frontpaged :D

I'm so happy right now! I'm generally not too confident on my drawing ability so stuff like really means a lot.
